Ironic folk

All those who support nuclear power  /   Please assemble under the reactor   /   There is no immediate danger to your health   /   Just have a shower and you`ll be fine!

Lyrics from 東電に廃炉 (Down with TEPCO)

This ironic protest song was first popularised in Japan by the late folk singer, Takada Wataru.  His version, Let`s join the Self-Defence Force, was a late 1960`s anti-war song.  Astonishingly, that song, which lightly mocked Japan`s remilitarisation, was banned by national radio stations.  The adapted anti-nuclear version has become a youtube hit since the disaster at the Fukushima nuclear plant.
